Membership: STUDENTS AND TRAINEES

If you are a student, be your subject learning disabilities, health, education, care or in another discipline, membership of British Institute of Learning Disabilities provides you with access to invaluable resources to aid your studies.

Research has confirmed that access to BILD's information services is a prime reason for joining BILD, and our Student Membership package provides a low-cost means of benefiting from BILD's experience and contacts.

As a Personal Member of BILD your benefits include:

- A monthly copy of our unique Current Awareness Service, designed to keep you up to date with everything new in learning disabilities (alternatively you may opt for a quarterly copy of British Journal of Learning Disabilities);

- Invitations to free training events held at locations around the UK;

Membership: BILD REGISTERED LEARNERS

If you are studying for a learning disability qualification through BILD or a BILD satellite centre, then we have a low-cost associate membership option which will open the door to a range of helpful resources.

As an Associate Member of BILD your benefits include:

- A monthly downloadable copy of our unique Current Awareness Service, designed to keep you up to date with everything new in learning disabilities;

- Invitations to free training events held at locations around the UK;

- Opportunity to enjoy a low-cost discounted subscription to CASonline, a searchable online database containing references to over 40,000 journal articles, books and pieces of research, grouped into 150 topic categories;

- Access to an exclusive membership forum on BILD’s website so share your experiences with others, and exchange information;

- An optional entry in BILD’s Membership Who’s Who enabling you to contact others who share your interests
Regular email newsletters from BILD.

One year’s Associate Membership of BILD costs £10. You qualify for this rate if you are registered directly with BILD or with a BILD satellite centre to study for a learning disability qualification. If you a student but are not registered for BILD training, then you need Student Membership.

Associate Members do not have a vote at BILD's Annual General Meeting.

Membership: PEOPLE WHO HAVE A LEARNING DISABILITY

We are working to make membership better for people with learning disabilities

Our "Build for the future" group of people with learning disabilities will help us, and so can you.

Here is some information about how membership is now

You can join British Institute of Learning Disabilities either on your own or as part of a group such as an advocacy or self-help group.

It is better if the group joins because all the staff can share the membership benefits. It costs £21 a year for Voluntary Group Membership.

Joining on your own

If you join on your own it costs £10.

You can have a monthly copy of Current Awareness Service, which keeps you up to date with everything new in learning disabilities or you may choose to have a copy of British Journal of Learning Disabilities every three months.

You have a chance to enjoy a low-cost subscription to CASonline, an online database you can search for lists of over 40,000 journal articles, books and pieces of research, grouped into 150 subjects.

You can use the membership forum on BILD’s website to share your ideas and concerns with others, and ask questions.

You can have your name in BILD’s Membership Who’s Who which helps you contact others who share your interests

You will get regular email newsletters from BILD if you have an email address

You have a chance to make a difference to how BILD is run by coming to our Annual General Meeting

Methods of Payment

You have a choice of ways to pay for BILD services. The easiest is to pay with your credit or debit card online from this site. To ensure the security of your information your payment is processed for us by SecureTrading.

We can accept credit/debit card details by telephone on 01562 723010, or cheque payments addressed to BILD, Campion House, Green Street, Kidderminster, DY10 1JL, UK.

We can invoice you for services totalling £30 or more. You can still order online - select the invoice option from checkout.
